Legends
of the stand
Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised black-gloved fists on the medal stand to make a statement of Black pride, power and defiance against racism and discrimination. They were vilified for decades, facing death threats and expulsion. Their stand created one of the most iconic sports images of all time and inspired generations of athletes to use their platform for justice.
We salute their courage, sacrifice and boldness. They are definitely Actively Black.
